If fishing venues operated a rating system for their facilities, then Churchwood would certainly be awarded 5 Stars ! Facilities were upgraded back in 2011, with the complex now boasting an impressive lodge housing toilets, showers and a kitchen area. The showers are available to anglers fishing for a period of 48hrs+. The kitchen has a sink, microwave, kettle and two fridges. There are also several charging points where mobile phones, bait boats etc can be charged. There is also fresh drinking water available from the tap just outside of the showers.
Take-away food menus can also be found inside the lodge. Good quality Chinese, Indian and Pizza's can be delivered to the car park and the fishery is well known to the local take-away establishments.
You will also find a catch report book within the log which will give you some useful information on what's been coming out and from which swims. Please enter your catches here with any relevant information. The 'Wall Of Fame' within the lodge displays photographs of the stunning specimens that inhabit these lakes. If you are lucky enough to catch one of the named fish then it's a good reference point to compare your picture to identify the fish you have caught.
Fish safety and welfare is of paramount importance at Churchwood Fisheries and is something that we put above anything else. We supply all nets, unhooking mats and weigh slings on all three lakes. This is to ensure that each angler has adequate and appropriate size equipment to safely deal with their catches along with helping to reduce the risk of any diseases being transferred into the fishery from contaminated nets / slings etc. Please respect the supplied tackle and treat it how you would your own. Nets should always be collapsed when lifting fish from the water and supported at the bottom to avoid damage to the fish and also to the equipment.
Jenkins and CW Lakes both have row boats supplied that any angler can use. Life jackets can be found inside the lodge, we strongly recommend the use of these at all times when using the boats. Primarily the boats are to be used to free snagged fish as pulling for a break is something that we seriously do not condone due to the welfare of the fish and that it is just not necessary. Using the boats to find attractive spots to fish, placing hook baits and baiting up is also recommended on both lakes. Although casting a bait or using a bait boat will suffice in most cases, finding and placing a bait over the side of the boat is by far the best way to present your rig and increase your chances of success. The carp do not seem to spoke from the boat and it's been proven many times before that sensible use of the boat can help increase your success rate.
